Living with a new denture
A new denture takes time to get used to. Eating is easier if you start with softer foods and smaller pieces and build up gradually, and speech usually settles within a few weeks of practice. Cleaning the denture every day and giving your gums a rest overnight helps keep the tissue healthy.
Removable or implant-supported
Complete dentures are removable, but in suitable cases implants can help hold a denture more firmly, especially on the lower jaw. Whether that is an option depends on your bone and general health and is assessed after examination. If some healthy teeth remain, a partial denture may be the better route — the choice is discussed with you.
